Job overview

This is a permanent visiting care position for an 82-year-old client with dementia. The role offers flexible hours (20-56 hours per week) and involves providing personal care, household support, meal preparation, and companionship. The successful candidate will be a warm, friendly and positive individual who enjoys listening and providing emotional support, alongside practical care tasks.

Key responsibilities

The carer will visit the client's home and provide support with:
  • Personal hygiene and toileting needs
  • Grocery shopping and meal preparation
  • Household tasks including cleaning and laundry
  • Driving to appointments
  • Providing companionship and emotional support
  • Assisting with pet care, including changing the litter tray for an elderly cat and reminding the client to feed the pet

Medical conditions: Dementia

Work environment

Smoke-free home. The client is a pet owner.

Requirements

Essential:
  • Fluent English language skills
  • Valid driving licence and access to own vehicle
  • Care Quality Commission (CQC) mandatory training
  • Care Certificate

Working pattern

20-56 hours per week. One visit per day for 3-4 hours, Monday-Friday (excluding Tuesdays). Hours are expected to increase as the client's needs develop.
