A private family is seeking a reliable and organised visiting carer to provide support to an 85-year-old gentleman living in a retirement flat in London. The role involves medication administration, shopping and meal preparation, alongside providing friendly companionship. This is a permanent part-time position working 10 hours per week across weekday mornings and evenings.

Key responsibilities

The carer will visit the client's home and undertake the following responsibilities:
  • Manage and administer medicines
  • Buy groceries and prepare meals
  • Provide friendly companionship and support

About the client

Age: 85
Medical conditions: Diabetes and mild cognitive impairment
Additional health needs: The client is unsteady on his feet and hard of hearing
Personal circumstances: The client's wife of 60 years passed away 18 months ago. He has recently relocated to London to be near his son and daughter-in-law, who visit with meals several days a week and spend weekends with him. He is reluctant to socialise and is unable to walk far.

Work environment

The client lives in a smoke-free, pet-free retirement flat in London.

Working pattern

10 hours per week
Monday to Thursday: 9-10am and 7-8pm
Friday: 9-10am

Requirements

Essential:
  • Care Certificate or equivalent qualification
  • Fluent English
