Job overview
This is a permanent, part-time visiting care position offering 10-20 hours per week. The role involves providing personal care, practical support and companionship to an 83-year-old client with dementia who is physically fit and living independently at home in Stogumber. The successful candidate will be a friendly, chatty and positive person with patience and ideally previous experience supporting people with dementia.
Key responsibilities
The carer will visit the client's home and provide support with the following:
- Help with dressing and some personal hygiene.
- Help preparing meals
- Household tasks including cleaning and laundry
- Companionship and friendly conversation
- Helping with pet care, including a morning local walk around the village with the client's dog

Household: Pet owner with one friendly dog
Work environment
Smoke-free home. Client is a pet owner.
Requirements
- Fluent spoken English
- Patience and kindness
- Previous experience supporting people with dementia (desirable)
- Excellent listening and communication skills
- Ability to provide positive companionship and lighten the mood
Working pattern
- 10-20 hours per week
- Mornings: 8:30am or 9:00am to 11:00am or 12:00pm
- Weekdays (weekends also possible if interested)
