This is a permanent, part-time position supporting an 82-year-old client with personal care and mobility needs in their home. The role requires a steady, practical and emotionally strong carer who can provide compassionate support whilst remaining calm and professional. The client has arthritis and a stoma, and requires help with hygiene, toileting, mobility and overnight reassurance.

Key responsibilities

The carer will visit the client's home and undertake the following responsibilities:
  • Support with hygiene and toileting needs
  • Assist with getting around the home and maintaining mobility
  • Provide overnight reassurance and support

About the client

Age: 82
Medical conditions: Arthritis and stoma
Additional health needs: Incontinence. The client is nervous and may make excuses to avoid care when needed, so the carer will need to approach this with patience and professionalism.

Work environment

The client's home is smoke-free and pet-free.

Working pattern

6 - 16 hours per week, consisting of 2 evenings or overnight shifts per week on Sundays, Mondays or Thursdays.

Requirements

Essential:
  • Care Certificate or equivalent qualification
  • Fluent English (spoken)
  • Ability to remain calm and patient with nervous clients
  • Experience managing difficult situations with professionalism and emotional resilience
